【Breast Pain = Breast Cancer?】
Most women experience some form of breast pain at one time or another. Soreness, swelling, heaviness, shooting or burning pangs, tightness -- whatever the feeling, breast pain hurts. It is very common to wonder if what you’re feeling might be a sign of breast cancer.
The common breast problems:
1. 1. Breast cyst - Breast cysts are fluid-filled sacs inside the breast. They are usually noncancerous (benign). Cysts are formed by the accumulation of normal breast secretions and formed oval or round. More common in women aged 35 to 50. Breast ultrasound can distinguish the nature of cysts, and complex cysts need a biopsy. If the cyst is large (more than 2cm) or causing discomfort, the doctor may draw off the fluid using a fine needle and syringe. Breast cysts may come back, so patients must be check regularly.
2. 2. Fibroadenoma - Fibroadenoma is a fibrous hyperplasia of breast tissue, it is usually granular and no obvious symptoms. Women usually find out during self-examination or ultrasound examination. If the lump of breast is confirmed to be benign and not larger than 2 cm, it is recommended to monitor its condition regularly.
3. 3. Breast calcifications - Breast calcifications are small dots of calcium salts that can occur anywhere in the breast tissue. They are usually due to benign (not cancer) changes that occur as part of aging. Breast calcifications are usually found by chance during a routine screening mammogram and the calcifications show up on a mammogram as small white dots. But if they appear in certain patterns and are clustered together, they may be a sign of precancerous cells or early breast cancer.
