Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine can effectively prevent serious invasive pneumococcal infections (such as meningitis, bacteremic pneumonia and septicemia) caused by the pneumococcal serotypes included in the vaccine. Young children are at high risk, so they are recommended to be vaccinated.
There are 3 shots in total. It is recommended that the baby start receiving the first shot when he is 2 months old, and then the second shot and the third shot when he is 4 months and 12 months old respectively.
